Meet Nichole Renee

Hi, Im Nichole Renee Currie and you’ve reached my portfolio!

I am an audio journalist and writer with experience in Philadelphia. I love storytelling and community journalism; I try to implement the two into my work whenever feasible.

A little about me: At the age of 17, I knew I wanted to be a journalist, a writer. I received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in the discipline, and after graduate school, I landed a reporter job for a community journalism project. After one year of reporting, my team introduced an audio narrative project named “Germantown Voices,” an opportunity to create first-person narratives. This is when I fell in love with audio production. So at the age of 25, I realized I didn’t want to be a writer anymore. I wanted to be an audio producer.

Today, I have three years of experience reporting in Philadelphia and one year in audio production. I pride myself on being a quick and sharp audio editor, but I also enjoy the storytelling elements; crafting segments with natural sounds, authentic voices, music, scriptwriting, and more.

Please take a look at my portfolio. You will find podcasts, audio shorts, magazine, and web articles. I’ve worked with outlets like the Germantown Info Hub (a community journalism grant-funded project), WHYY, Grid Magazine, Philadelphia GROW Magazine, and more.

Please connect with me for further questions.

Best,

Nichole Renee
